SAFETY, IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THIS

Safety, It's as Simple as This

Nothing we do is more critical than helping to insure that our employees and our team members return home safely to their loved ones each night. We are a family owned business where family is valued as the number one element and a company where employees are viewed as a greatest and most valuable asset. Without safe and healthy employees we have a meaningless and unproductive business.

Urata & Sons has full-time Safety Director who provides safety orientation to our new employees, safety training and makes regular jobsite visits to assure our jobsites are OSHA compliant and safe. On our larger projects we have implemented full-time Field Safety Specialists to maintain safety awareness and assure our jobsites are OSHA compliant and safe.

The following is a list of Safety tools that Urata & Sons implements to make our company a safe environment.

New Employee Safety Orientation

A 45-minute new hire orientation is given by our Safety Director. The 45-minute video goes over fall protection, property lifting, bio hazards and much more.

Weekly “Tool Box” Discussions

Weekly "tool box safety talks" are distributed to the first line supervisors. Each week a 15-minute tool box safety talk is recommended for every crew. Specific topics are discussed, but more importantly, supervisors are requested to discuss recent injuries, unsafe acts, additions to Hazard Communications and upcoming work requiring any special precautions for their crew.

Safety Meetings

Quarterly motivational meetings such as barbeques and luncheons are provided to inform employees on safety issues and discuss any open concerns. Merchandise and incentive awards are provided to encourage employee participation.

Accident Reporting and Documentation

Accident reports are reviewed by the Safety Director and Project Manager. Corrective action is taken when required.
